Keke's Breakfast Cafe

Hello everyone! This week we are going to explore one of central Florida's favorite breakfast spots; Keke's. This past Sunday the boyfriend and I decided to start our Sunday-Funday off right with a hearty brunch. If any of you follow my personal Facebook you will know that this past Sunday didn't have such a fun ending. My boyfriend ended up in the hospital with stitches...but to be honest, our huge breakfast held us over until 9pm when we left the hospital and hes on the mend now.

Anyway! I first stumbled upon Keke's a few years ago after a crazy night out with friends. It looked cute and had a line out the door, I was about it. Now I usually stay away from reviewing chain restaurants however, since this chain is unique to the central FL area I figured that I could make the exception.

Keke's has many locations (they list them all on their website as well as menus complete with prices) but what they all have in common is that they are open and bright. Majority, if not all, of their locations have big floor to ceiling windows, clean neutral colors and is always full of people. As you make your way back to your seat you pass by tables with plates of large waffles topped with fruit and whipped cream. The smell of sizzling bacon, cooking pancake batter and melting butter envelops you in a cozy pocket of excitement of whats to come.

Now to the food! Anyone who has been to Keke's will tell you how amazing it is (this hot chocolate is everything). The portions will never leave you hungry, they honestly keep me full for the majority of the day. They are open from 7am until 2:30pm, so they do serve lunch... but lets be real, we go to Keke's from their breakfast. The waffles, which are huge by the way, are easily their most popular dish. The boyfriend took one look and decided right away that he would have the Florida waffle with toast and ham steak.

The Florida waffle has fresh strawberries, banana, blueberries, powdered sugar topped with generously with whipped cream. The boyfriend was also excited about how large his apple juice was. When he ordered he was expecting a small bottle of apple juice.... nope. The waitress brought our this biggest fucking glass Ive ever seen, filled to the top with apple juice. We were VERY pleased.

I decided to get the banana, pecans and caramel stuffed french toast with a side of toast and sausage links and it did not disappoint. This dish is stuffed with cream cheese and finished off with powdered sugar.

Now to all my veg readers, don't fret! They do have options for you. Like I mentioned before they do have lunch items. Their lunch menu has a bistro feel to it complete with salads, sandwiches and burgers (yes even veg friendly ones too!). The dress code is casual, think Sunday brunch with friends.

If you are looking for a bargain I suggest that you split a pancake/french toast/stuffed french toast/waffle combo with someone. This combo fills you up and is the perfect amount to share between two people. Top it off with a hot chocolate for each person and its a perfect way to start any morning!

Looking to splurge? You cant go wrong with this protein packed three meat omelet with a large breakfast salad.

Which brings us to our favorite thing here; the breakfast salad! This "salad" (pictured above) is layers of yogurt, bananas, sliced strawberries, blueberries and honey. And let me tell you... its amazing. I took one bite and fell IN LOVE. I started making this dish at home for breakfast or a snack and everyone that I make it for LOVES IT.

So if you are looking for cheery place to start your morning (whenever that is) Keke's is the place to be.
