Hotto Potto

Hello everyone! Welcome back to my food adventures! This week we decided to make an event out of dinner and dine at Hotto Potto. For those of you that have never been to this amazing Chinese hotpot spot let me tell you, this is an adventure all in its self.

Located in a new strip mall on Semoran Blvd, close to Full Sail, this gem is a godsend to locals. Its a super casual, at a good price point, healthy, serves alcohol and is open until 2am on most nights and 5am on the weekends. The boyfriend and I decided to try this place after driving by like a million times, the whole time i would scream "HOTTO POTTO". Just because it is fun to say. But one day the boyfriend and i decided on a whim, and much to my delight, to hop on the motorcycle and try this place. It wasn't until then that i realized how much i needed hot pot in my life. I. WAS. SHOOK.

The adventure starts when you walk in the door; the smell hits you like a ton! Immediately your stomach will start growling. The decor is cute but like I said, it is super casual. I love coming here for a casual date night since a two-top table is fitted with a burner in the middle of the table where the pot will go. And yes, here you cook your own food. I know, I know...why would you go to a restaurant to cook your own food? Because its fun? Because its interactive? Because now, dinner is an event. oh yeah.. and because its DELICIOUS.

So now that we know that we will be cooking our own food lets get to the good part. Chinese hot pot is similar to the melting pot (your food will arrive raw and you basically boil your food) but healthier and so much better. Here you can totally customize your flavor profiles and each person gets their own broth! No more settling for a base that is too spicy or too bland for your liking. There are many different broths to choose from and you can choose you level of spice (if any).

Not into meat? No worries, they have a lot of veg options and offer tofu as well. They also have lunch and dinner combo specials for those of you who like a little bit of everything.

Here is the boyfriend's stunning mushroom platter.

And here is my combo dinner platter, complete with pork, chicken, beef, chicken balls, pork balls, beef balls, dumplings and tofu. Both of our meals came with rice noodles.

Watching our next batch of food cook while we eat.

Another amazing feature of Hotto Potto is the tray of sauces that is placed at each table. Each tray holds 14 sauces and spices to concoct the perfect dipping sauce to complement your masterpiece. Its pretty hard to mess up actually, the only problem I had was not making enough at one time.

By the end of the meal you are full of flavorful morsels of food and happy from the excitement of trying something new (or something not so new, but still fun). You even get to take the left over broth home for soup the next day. Since you cooked all of your food in it the broth takes on more depth as far as flavor is concerned.

If you would like to splurge I suggest the wagyu beef. Its priced at market value for that day. However when we went there last it came in at a whopping $18 for a small portion.

If you want a good deal I suggest getting one of the dinner or lunch combos. It comes out cheaper than if you were to get every item on its own and one is more than enough to fill you up.

Im always CRAVING the sweet tea at Hotto Potto. Our waitress told us that they use a house blend of slow brew tea. oh its amazing! Food wise I LOVE dumplings and Hotto Potto has a verity to choose from. From the traditional pork to chicken to veggie and even seafood!
